ICAISA Principles of Good Practice

As an aspirational organization, ICAISA thrives through a symbiotic relationship with and between its member associations. Towards that end, Principles of Good Practice guide our individual and collective work towards a transformative impact on independent schools by advancing accreditation globally. These Principles do not cover all possible situations, but they do orient us to the highest standards.

The members of ICAISA share a collective responsibility to advance its organizational mission and purpose.

Prioritize and fully engage in meetings, committee work, projects, and other events

Promote the ICAISA brand within our associations and throughout the larger educational world

Serve enthusiastically and thoughtfully on review teams for other associations

So that ICAISA can help transform schools, members must strive to enhance the accreditation process.

Uphold standards of excellence through a vigorous process

Maintain the proper balance of compliance and growth

Commit to the key elements of self-study and peer review, with the goals of mission alignment, continuous improvement, and sustainability

Increase value through thoughtful innovation that responds to changing needs

Because we share a common purpose and larger goals, members must support each other collegially, collaboratively, and respectfully.

Respond generously to requests for information, guidance, and support

Appreciate the diverse qualities, purposes, processes, and challenges of each association

Engage in fair, consistent practices that seek to avoid conflicts of interest and approach possible competition with empathy and courtesy

Address concerns directly and courteously
